16 February 2024

Below you will find a list of useful information for beneficiaries of the civic income tax, based on the current legal framework:

Eligibilité

Les personnes qui ont leur résidence habituelle en Allemagne, qui ont atteint l'âge de 15 ans et qui n'ont pas en noch atteint l'âge limite pour la pension de vieillesse normale, qui sont capables de travailler et qui ne peuvent pas ou pas suffisamment subvenir à leurs besoins par leurs propres revenus ou patrimoine, ont en principe droit au Bürgergeld.

Montant du revenu de citoyenneté

The amount of the citizen's income depends on the needs of the individual or the community of needs. It includes the normal needs for subsistence as well as the reasonable costs of housing and heating.

Prise en compte des revenus et du patrimoine

In principle, income and property are imputed on the citizen's income. However, there are deductions that must guarantee that work is profitable and that there is an incentive to work.

Obligations and sanctions

The beneficiaries of the income from citizenship are obliged to actively participate in measures for integration into the labour market and to take up employment, training or further training. Failure to fulfil these obligations may result in a reduction in benefits.

Prestations supplémentaires

In addition to ordinary citizenship income, entitled persons may, under certain conditions, receive supplementary benefits, for example supplementary benefits for single women, isolated parents or disabled persons, as well as single benefits for special purchases.

Procédure de demande

The application for citizen's allowance must be submitted to the competent job centre. On this occasion, all the documents necessary for the examination of the right must be presented.

Conseil et support

The employment centres offer advice and individual support to help people integrate into the labour market and overcome personal obstacles. This also includes training and qualification programmes.

Droit de recours et d'action en justice

In case of disagreement or rejection of the claim, the beneficiaries of the income from citizenship have the right to lodge an opposition and, if necessary, to bring an action before the social court.

For the beneficiaries of citizenship income, it is important to know their rights and obligations and to take the necessary measures to ensure their subsistence and improve their chances on the labour market. In case of specific questions or uncertainties, it is advisable to appeal to a legal counsellor.
